Drake may now start going by the 6 Plant-Based God. Bloomberg reports that the Canadian rapper is reportedly part of a group of investors that raised $40 million for Daring Foods Inc. The Los Angeles based company just debuted their plant-based chicken in 2020 with an ambitious goal to remove chicken from the world’s food system due to food industry’s poor treatment of animals and its negative environmental impact. The global plant-based chicken arena is projected to reach $8 billion by 2030, according to Future Market Insights.
Daring has gained a lot of funding in a short period of time and the company should be able to triple distribution to more than 4,500 U.S. stores in 2021 as they are already partnering with Costco and Kroger. Drizzy continues to think outside the music box as he works on building assets in ventures other than hip hop. Along with his Daring Inc. investment, Drake was an early supporter and investor in a Toronto-based brokerage firm that reached a $4 billion valuation in May. Drake is joining a list of celebrities that have jumped into the plant-based field, including Jay-Z and Serena Williams.
