This Friday (May 28th), fans will be in for a treat as DMX’s posthumous album is scheduled to be released. Luckily for all us hip hop heads and other music lovers, the Dog was able to complete his album, Exodus, or at least most of it before his death in April. Rumblings suggest that we will hear the aggressive rap delivery and multifaceted content known to X fans for years now.
Swizz Beatz, who executive produced Exodus, chopped it up recently on Apple Music 1 with Zane Lowe. One of the topics of conversation that many people have wondered about, is the number of guest features on the album. This was also a topic of conversation on the latest episode of the Dope Tho Podcast.
When talking to Zane Lowe, Swizz suggests that the only posthumous track is the Moneybagg Yo feature. "Everything else X was present and happy for. We had a conversation, and I told him, I said, yo, I know you don't like a lot of features, but I think it's time that people should see that other people love you as well and you're respected by serious, serious artists. Although you're humble, although you don't really have features, let's have fun with it, come out the gate," he continues. "Then the next album, we can get back to how you want to do it, but let's have some fun. Let's give them something they can't expect.”, states Swizz.
One of the first singles from the album is “Hood Blues” featuring Griselda. Don’t forget to check out DMX’s Exodus this Friday. Are you ready?
