After an alleged explosive kerfuffle during a meeting, it appears Mariah Carey will no longer be managed by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. The two had been friends for years before Carey signed to Roc Nation in 2017. The disagreement is said to be over the future of Mariah’s career and the meeting ended with the two sides parting ways.
A source from an article in the Sun states, “Mariah and Jay had an explosive meeting which did not go well at all. She has made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation. She will formally depart in the next few weeks. It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years. But this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse.” This conflicts with another source of information from Metro UK, that states the pair parted ways amicable. This article states that they are on great terms and Mariah is now being managed by a former Roc Nation associate that is now a partner at a rival managing company.
Mariah is said to be working on a new R&B influenced album and a tour for 2021. She is no longer listed on Roc Nation’s list of acts that can be found on their website.
