Prior to the rap icon’s death last month, it was rumored that DMX had completed his latest project. The long-anticipated 8th studio album from Dark Man X had long been talked about for a few years, with Swizz Beatz attached as executive producer to help guide the Dog’s vision. Now, we have confirmation from X’s team and Swizz himself that the album, Exodus, will be released on May 28th.
Swizz wrote, “My brother X was one of the most pure and rare souls I’ve ever met. He lived his life dedicated to his family and music. Most of all, he was generous with his giving and loved his fans beyond measure. This album, X couldn’t wait for his fans all around the world to hear and show just how much he valued each and every single person that has supported him unconditionally.”
Exodus will mark DMX’s first album with Def Jam since 2003’s Grand Champ. X resigned to Def Jam in 2019 and his last album was 2012’s Undisputed. During an interview on Drink Champs earlier this year, X mentioned that his new album would include features from Pop Smoke and Griselda. Also rumored to be featured on the album are Snoop Dogg, Usher, Lil Wayne Alicia Keys and DMX’s own 8-year-old daughter, Sonovah Hillman Jr.
