Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory was sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008, for running the drug organization known as the “Black Mafia Family”. Today, he received good news, after U.S. District Court judge David M. Lawson agreed to reduce Meech’s prison sentence from 360 months to 324 months, amounting to a 3-year sentence reduction.
After serving nearly 16 years in prison, and with minimal issues, instead of being scheduled for release in 2031, his new scheduled release date is now in 2028. So he could be released within the next 7 years.
The Black Mafia Family became well known in Atlanta, GA for putting on extravagant events and showing off their lavish lifestyles. Many attribute the organization's fall to them putting up "Black Mafia Family" billboard signs throughout the Atlanta area, and receiving heightened scrutiny from the Drug Enforcement Agency.
