In what has to be deemed a senseless and disrespectful act, the grave of rapper Pop Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson, was found vandalized yesterday. His headstone was found smashed and debris could be found all around his final resting place at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. Part of the mausoleum’s wall was smashed with flowers and discarded joints also found on the ground. It’s suspected that the vandals attempted to drag Pop Smoke’s casket out as drag marks can be found on the ground. Its unclear at the moment, if any other damage was done to the casket.
The short career of the 20-year-old Pop Smoke ended abruptly last year when he was shot and killed during a robbery attempt in Los Angeles. According to TMZ, NYPD is reporting that the damage occurred sometime between 2:30pm on Friday and 2pm on Saturday. Police are still investigating, but have no suspects at this time. Caution tape is now around the area and the late rapper’s plaque has been replaced with a blank slab.
