Scarface got a lot of attention yesterday (June 28th) when he posted a picture on his Instagram page of what appeared to be an album cover. The pic was of him and Willie D with the words “Geto Boys Reloaded” on it. There was no caption included, but many fans, including other artists, seemingly got excited at the idea of a new Geto Boys project. Artists like, DJ Paul, Alchemist, DJ Premier, Black Sheep’s Dres, Mia X, Goodie Mob, Gang Starr, Kid Capri, Skinny Pimp and more left comments and emoji’s showing their excitement.
No album was confirmed but it looks like the pic was promotion for a new podcast coming from the surviving members of the group. The Geto Boys Reloaded podcast is coming courtesy of the Black Effect Podcast Network and iHeart Media. A one-minute introductory episode is out now and according to that introduction the show officially launches on Monday, July 5th.
The Geto Boys (originally Ghetto Boys) as many know them today, released their debut album, Grip It! On That Other Level in 1989. The original group and line up released a previous project in 1988, titled Making Trouble. In 2019, founding member, Bushwick Bill, passed away from stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Fans will have to wait and see if Scarface and Willie D. release new music to go along with their new podcast.
